Discovering the Best Summer Activities in Deer Valley
If you're planning on traveling to Park City / Deer Valley, here is a travel guide for your upcoming trip. Also, it was so refreshing to see how dog-friendly Park City was as Kona Lou made so many new friends š¶. A big shoutout to the St. Regis Deer Valley for the most incredible experience - Kona Lou and I will absolutely be back soon.
Getting There from Orange County
For all my OC friends, Delta offers a non-stop flight from Long Beach (LGB) to Salt Lake City (SLC). Not to mention, I was able to score First Class tickets for less than $500 roundtrip! To make a smooth trip, I opted in for the valet service at Long Beach Airport - and you won't believe it, valet is only $4 more per day than the regular parking rate. For $4 more per day, you can have the car parked and washed for you -- worth every penny.
Where to Stay
Kona Lou and I stayed at the St. Regis Deer Valley and it was 100% worth it. The service, food, amenities, and experience were superb. Here are some other recommended options based on hotel class:
Deer Valley Resort - 3 star
Chateaux Deer Valley - 4 star
Stein Eriken Lodge Deer Valley - 5 star
Note: Kona Lou and I are big fans of the Montage brand, however in visiting the Montage Deer Valley for brunch, it was underwhelming. There was 0% experience, a lack of liveliness, and the staff were not pleasant.
What to Do
Park City / Deer Valley is a big winter sports community, but don't fret as the summer activities are just as worth it! Kona Lou and I spent the majority of our time hiking - 10/10 recommend.
Here are some other recommendations that we loved doing during our trip:
Park Silly Sunday Market - I picked up some great goodies, live music, PLUS A TIKI BAR. Say less.
Historic Main Street - There is such a unique blend of boutique/local stores on Main. Not to mention, you can find some delicious restaurants and drinks along the way.
And the St. Regis Deer Valley have a ton of fun activities they offer daily such as a champagne sabering and s'mores toast.
What to Eat
Unpopular opinion: there weren't too many impressive eateries in Park City (and maybe I'm biased coming from Southern California where there is an endless amount of delicious foods). I found myself primarily trying out the restaurants at the St. Regis Deer Valley and here is what I'd recommend ordering from their menus:
Breakfast at the RIME: chocolate croissant, berry yogurt granola, avocado toast with egg and smoked salmon, oh and CHOCOLATE CROISSANT (did I mention their chocolate croissant?)
Lunch at Brasserie 7452: 7452 salad with shrimp, charcuterie board
Dinner at the RIME: roasted Idaho trout, and please please please please do NOT skip the black truffle pizza
Note: It may have been that we visited during a holiday weekend, however the St. Regis restaurants were overwhelmed and understaffed. The staff did the best they could, however it was evident that they felt the pressure of the influx of guests.
